Dual Identity
Amidst the Internet consumption that boomed significantly in our lives in the past recent decades, the power of Social Media has become an essential element for our survival as social beings. A whole new realm opened up different means of communication where people can connect and share information in a virtual environment, which became a world on its own. Social Media has become integrated with our identity to an extent that we started identifying ourselves with it. In addition to that, each Social Media platform has cultured a unique identity in which we have to adapt to as participants. Not only does Social Media mirror the norms of societies but it also moves beyond reflecting it to commanding our “voice”. Our Community is no longer one that is solely physical. The digital platform is a microcosm of streets, neighborhoods, towns, cities, and ultimately countries.
