Computational Craft Workshop: BOXES

March 31, 2012
D12 Graduate Studio Space, Parsons The New School for Design

During this workshop, educators with a penchant for technology and graduate students in the MFA Design and Technology program gathered to construct paper box circuits. Equipped with an ATtiny44, a 10K resistor, an LED, a 3 volt battery, and a lot of copper tape, these tech savvy crafters spent the day building interactive boxes that display a range of behaviors. Since magnets close the switch to activate the box, participants put their boxes together at the end of the day to make some super awesome generative light structures. The day ended with a great discussion about implementing such a lesson or workshop in the high school classroom and or for other teachers. See the “Research” page for more details!
